Welcome to the Rice Rock Deformation Lab website.

We study rocks from fault zones to understand how and why faults slip and what conditions lead to or inhibit earthquakes. We try to understand what causes earthquakes and other slip modes to nucleate, grow, and arrest. We work in the lab a lot and in the field sometimes.
